Singapore Flyer Grounded

Never thought I would see this in the news.. because it is afterall Singapore.  But yes, I heard right .. the Singapore Flyer had been grounded because last Tuesday while we had a wind storm here in Nova Scotia, the Singapore Flyer had their power cut off because of an electrical fire in the control room.   Leaving more than 11 passengers stranded for 6 hrs.. and 173 people trapped in its 28 capsules.

As we all know .. Singapore and its government.. is always on top of things, therefore, it is really shocking..!  to not only me.. but everyone.  And if you all cannot remember.. many, many years ago, the cable cars to Sentosa had a major accident too.. .and many people were dead .. because of it.

The government had ensured that the Singapore Flyer will restart only if it was fully investigated .. and fully satisfactory with the outcome and prevention of future occurance.

Not More Than 5 Packs Of Rice, Singaporean

FairPrice supermarket .. partially owned by the Singapore Government.. if i am not wrong… is restricting the consumers from buying more than 5 packs of rice.  It is said to be protecting the consumers against.. traders who might take advantage of the low price.
FairPrice said it offers one of the most competitive prices and has re-assured consumers that the supply of rice is adequate.  It also said most consumers should not be affected by the restriction. This is because most families take a while to finish a 10-kilogramme bag of rice.
Other major supermarkets – such as Sheng Siong, Cold Storage and Giant – have no such restriction.  The supermarkets have also said that the prices have stabilised and the rush to buy rice has also eased. – CNA/vm

Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew

As much as I love Singapore.. and as much as i love our Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and have loads of respect for him, I’ll have to say that him blaming the people for being complacent when Ji Man mas Selamat’s escape from custody instead of taking full responsibility or punishing the right department.. really makes me think that the Minister Mentor is getting old and senile.

“He said last month that the break-out was a ‘very severe lesson in complacency’. Mas Selamat, 47, who had planned to crash a plane into Changi Airport, escaped from Internal Security Department custody on Feb 27. He is still on the run.”

You’ve gotta wonder what was he thinking.. when he said that..???!!!!??
