Microsoft co-founder backing Bitove’s attempt to gain hold in wireless

Wow..!! this is big news..!! Microsoft Corp. co-founder and billionaire Paul Allen has agreed to back investor John Bitove’s attempt to gain a position in the Canadian wireless industry during the spectrum auction in May.

So what does all this means..??  For the layman.. it prolly means.. another player in the market..??? $106 million deposit with financial backing from Paul Allen’s firm .. Vulcan Inc.  Believing that the Canadian consumers deserve the best and most innovative wireless technology… John Bitove the chairman is very excited about the auction.

Several big names/companies has come up as bidders and one of them is telecom giants Rogers Communication.  Seriously, I hope Roger doesn’t win the bid.. because we need some new players in this field.

Canada’s oldest bookstore shut down

It is really sad to hear that Canada’s oldest bookstore located in Halifax closed its doors today. The 169 yrs old book room survived wars and the great depression but cannot outlast the competition.. and the economy downturn.

Owner Charles Burchell said that the trend of the market was changing that people prefers to order online instead of coming to his nearby bookstore to get the books they want. The dual pricing of books with higher prices in Canada than in the US was what broke the store’s back.

He blames the publishers for not reacting quickly enough to the rising Canadian dollars. I think the rise in Canadian dollars affected every business.. not only this one. Sad.. but true.

Chelsea Clinton So Cocky

Chelsea Clinton sharply refuses to answer a question about the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
Chelsea was speaking at Butler University in Indiana, part of multi-college tour in support of her mother’s campaign. Former President Bill Clinton admitted to having a sexual relationship with intern Monica Lewinsky which led to impeachment hearings and a damaged legacy.

Space Shuttle Lands In Florida

The U.S. space shuttle Endeavour returned to Florida capping a milestone flight that brought Japan fully into the International Space Station partnership with the delivery of the first part of its research laboratory.

Unexpected clouds at the Kennedy Space Center prompted NASA to skip Endeavour’s first landing opportunity and delay touchdown until 8:39 p.m. EDT (0039 Thursday GMT), ending the 122nd shuttle mission in darkness, just as it began 16 days ago.

The shuttle dropped off at the space station a storage room for Japan’s elaborate Kibo laboratory, as well as a Canadian robot to help astronauts maintain the $100 billion outpost.

Bush Said No Regrets

4000 deaths, $500 billion dollars later, Bush said he has no regrets about the war and expects victory. Appealing to war-weary Americans for patience, Bush acknowledged that the costs of the war have been high but the campaign has been a success.

Can someone go bitch slap him..!!!!!

Taiwan Choose Their New President

Mar. 22 – The ppl of Taiwan had spoken.. and opposition candidate Ma Yin-jeou – Harvard graduate, with kinder, gentler business attitude toward China ousts ruling party from power. Supporters celebrate what many are calling a landslide victory and expectations for greater business ties with mainland China.

An end to the more than half a century of hostility and tension between Taiwan and China may be in the offing with the election of a more China-friendly president for the island, but progress will be slow and tortuous.  I wished for Taiwan all the best.. and its ppl.

“What I can promise voters is that we will not negotiate the issue of unification and we will not support de jure independence,” he added, speaking in fluent English. “And we will oppose the use of force across the Taiwan Strait.”

Iraq War & Bush

bush.jpg

Seriously.. i wanna know what Bush had to say. It has been 5 yrs now.. since the war in Iraq started by Bush, i know so .. because i was in Maine, Freeport .. driving up to Connecticut.. and had to turn around.. because i didn’t wanna be in the wrong place at the wrong time. 5 yrs on.. and still Bush is lacking a strategy to win and withdraw.

Bush acknowledged that the costs of the war, in lives and money, had been higher and longer lasting than he had anticipated. And he insist and maintained that the invasion made the world better and US safer..!As far as i am concerned .. this war last too long.. and too much money spent.. and too many lives lost.. for no reason.  I think Bush is not willing to withdraw now.. because then he will be admitting he was wrong all alone.

Canada Out Of Afghan

war.jpg

Canadians across the country rallied and protested the role of their soldiers in Afghan and want their loved ones, family and friends safe. I don’t blame them at all.. because recently in the last month, there were already 2 deaths .. and how many more Canadian soldier has got to die before they pull out..?? Many of the protesters said they were participating to voice their belief that Canada should be a peacekeeping nation and not take part in active combat. A 74 years old .. Maureen Adelman who held a placard that read ” No war, no way, no where” was in the protest because she wants the government to divert all the spending and all those brains to find a peaceful solutions. Men and Women from Canada are getting killed .. and so are the innocents in Afghan.

Someone STOP BUSH..!!

Tibet Explodes In Hatred, Fears Of Another Tiananmen

tibet.jpg

With the Olympics just months away .. in Beijing, one cannot help but fear about the riots .. and the death of already 30 people. If you all remembered in 1989, the Tiananmen Square massacre, in which hundreds died when the party sent in tanks to crush pro-democracy protests. Now China fears that they may face the same disaster on par with the Tiananmen Square massacre.

N.Y. Gov Eliot Spitzer

govenor.jpg

Shocking to us as well.. as the rest of the Americans who had voted for him. He addressed the media yesterday and apologized publicly to his family. He is linked to a prostitution ring which may cost him his career. It looks like he is going outta the door pretty soon.

The Governor’s political career teetered on the brink of collapse Monday after the corruption-fighting politician once known as “Mr. Clean” was accused of paying for a romp with a high-priced call girl.  Very, very interesting indeed.

Hilary Clinton Wins Texas

clinton.jpg

I heard about Clinton’s win in Rhode Island .. a few days ago, and to be honest.. i was pretty shocked that the small community in Rhode Island voted for her. But i guess i would be surprised if any voted for her .. given her history.. first with Bill Clinton and also the White Water Investment that came up to light in about 1994.  I am currently watching the election very closely.  But  Obama is the one that I’m really interested in.

Canadian Soldier Killed in Afghan

hayakaze-michael-yuki-cp-44.jpg

A very sad day for all Canadians.. i am sure. Another soldier killed on Sunday after his armoured vehicle hit and improvised explosive device in Afghan. Which brings us to a total of 79 death and 1 diplomat who died in Afghan. Most of Canada’s 2,500 troops participating in the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan are in and around Kandahar province.

These Canadians are deployed there to keep the peace but even though we’ve heard of death since 2002, I am sure.. like Trooper Michael Yuki Hayakaze, 25, he didn’t think he was not going home alive. It saddens me.. to see another lost .. because of this mission.. and wonder when all the soldiers can come home..?
